• We watched the livestream this morning, which was pretty surreal, but here’s the official page with video at groundhog.org.

• The tradition came with German settlers to Pennsylvania, who celebrated the Christian tradition of Candlemas. Fun fact: they had looked to the hedgehog, plentiful in Europe but nonexistent in North America, and so they discovered the groundhog. Here’s a quick history at History.

• We recently watched the movie Groundhog Day and it’s entertaining in an early 1990s, no smartphones, kind of way. I wonder about all the timelines he created though, if those people continued without him?
