“At the moment when their efforts seemed destined to fail, when flight felt impossible and doomed, the two birds lifted over the water and took off low along the tree line…”
We have a couple that live in our local park but my most memorable encounter had to be when we were staying in a nature park outside Paris. Our lodge backed out on to a lake and we had all sorts of creatures on our doorstep, Wild Boar, Deer, all sorts of lake based insects and birds but in particular a family of geese that would waddle up and down the lakeside. The standout moment, and almost a nightly occurrence was when one of the Swans would territorially chase the geese away, hissing really loudly and flapping their huge wings, and on more than one occasion the show ended up with the geese family sheltering up on our deck..
Beautiful pictures Amy, thanks for sending them.
Thank you so much, Paul.
I love the river illustrations. They could be pictures of the lake I see every day from my own back porch.
Thank you so much, Jenny -- that sounds like a great back porch to me.
So beautiful, Amy.
Thank you, Lorraina!
Been meaning to say, I love your illustrations. They make my inbox feel a whole lot lighter, thank you <3
Thank you so much, Emily :)))

There’s a beautiful lesson in this. ❤️

From now on I'm going to think of you as a friend to the geese. I can see you and the geese having a laugh on the deck.
I used to have geese. They’re mostly bluff. Swans, though? They’d slit your throat without a second thought.
I think that's why I like them.
Murder boids.
(maniacal laugh)
I'm with you on the anxiety and stress struggles. I have been struggling to create at all! This is lovely.
Thank you, Karen, I'm hoping to get outside a lot this weekend :)
